Change of management at halls

AFTER many years of service to the community, Jane Smith has given up her job as the manager of Battle Memorial Halls.

Robert Emeleus, chairman of the Halls Management Committee, told the Observer: “We owe a great deal of gratitude to Jane who worked tirelessly not only to ensure that those using the halls were given all the help and guidance they needed but also because, through her initiative and fund raising efforts, major improvements to the facilities available at the halls have been possible.

“Who can forget, when others were doubtful, her commitment to the raising of sponsorship for the tiered seating which has made such a difference for many events in the main hall.”

Jane will be a hard act to follow but, in Tania Charman the management committee believe that they have found a worthy successor.

Tania has a great deal of experience in operating similar facilities in the voluntary sector and combines skills and knowledge relating to building management with a passion for working with and in the community.

She took up her post on Monday (April 28).

The Annual General Meeting of the Battle Memorial Hall will take place on June 9, starting at 7.30pm.

All are welcome to attend the event.
