Chantry turns yellow

HUNDREDS of local children left their school uniforms at home last Friday and wore yellow for the day to raise funds for St. Michael's Hospice.

They included Chantry pupils, pictured here.

Hospice fundraiser Jenny Tyrrell said: "This year 28 local schools and nurseries took part in St. Michael's Hospice's Yellow Day - the best ever!

"Each child was given the opportunity to purchase a special badge in exchange for a donation and was encouraged to wear something yellow.

"Nursery schools baked lemon cakes, ate bananas and custard, drank yellow drinks and painted yellow pictures.

"One boy even dyed his hair yellow! Everything was yellow for the day."
