Why can’t I Fly? was written by Lewis Bridger’s aunt Trisha Bridger for her daughter Niamh who has the condition.

Lewis said: “When I first found out that my cousin Niamh had diabetes, it was a great shock as she was so young. She is extremely brave and I am so proud of her.

“She is always smiling and very bubbly in spite of her diabetes and how it makes her feel.

“When I first heard about my aunt’s book Why can’t I Fly? I thought it was a brilliant idea especially as it is raising money for diabetes. The story is great fun for all young children as it is about children wanting to bounce on everything, trying to fly, and has a clever message within the story about not giving up on your dreams.

“When I was first asked to do a book signing event I was very keen...especially as I am family, now back riding for the Eastbourne Eagles and it is near my home town.

“I hope that everyone will come and support the signing.”

Trisha said that she is “so very proud” of Lewis and all his achievements and knows that his success will continue as he is “an extremely talented rider”.
