Charity box stolen at shop

A callous thief stole a charity box for Guide Dogs for the Blind from outside a Battle shop.

The box was chained to a bookcase outside Battle Electrics and Computer, in Market Square.

Owner Joan Guyll offers the books for sale to raise funds for the charity.

She said: “A suspicious chap walked into our sop near the end of the day and distracted me while his accomplice yanked the charity box free. They both then ran off.

“We have the whole thing captured on CCTV and are sharing that with the police.

“These people need to be caught and have the book thrown at them. Who would stoop so low as to steal from a charity that helps blind people?”
