Charity challenge spiced up

THE CHARITY challenge Horsham 100 has been spiced up by a restaurant in Southwater.

Haldi Indian and Bangladeshi Restaurant in Lintot Square has created a new signature dish - the Haldi100.

All proceeds from the special course go towards a £100,000 target in aid of the Dame Vera Lynn Trust.

Today (Thursday September 22), the coriandar and garlic grilled chicken feast was launched in the presence of the chairman of Horsham District Council Claire Vickers (Con, Southwater), as well as representatives from The Dame Vera Lynn Trust, PMW Communications Ltd, Tanbridge House School, Foundry Press and the County Times.

“As one of the local district councillors for Southwater I am particularly pleased to try this new Horsham100 Haldi100 dish,” said Mrs Vickers.

”It was simply delicious. The flavours are amazing, not too hot but with a kick!

“I wish you every success with your fundraising for such a good cause,” added the chairman.

Jay Haldi, owner of Haldi Restaurant, commented: “We are really pleased to be getting involved in Horsham100 and we have created a fantastic, flavourful dish for the cause. A little bit hot, a little bit not, this is a really tasty dish.”

The Horsham100 Haldi100 dish sees cubes of chicken breast marinated and flavoured with coriander and garlic grilled with peppers, onions and tomatoes. It is then cooked in a little medium spicy sauce with green chillies and yogurt. It is also available with fish or king prawns.

All the proceeds from every Haldi100 bought by Thursday December 1 will be given to Horsham100.

Last weekend walkers raised an amazing £17,000 for the new charity initiative, which was launched back in May by PMW Communications and Tanbridge House School, supported by the County Times.

The challenge was for local businesses to raise £100,000 for the Dame Vera Lynn Trust which runs the School for Parents at Five Oaks, for children with cerebral palsy.
