“We saw a real increase last year, which was very cheering for all the volunteers who work here,” said shop manager Jane Nunn.

“We track our progress each week so we know just where we are in relation to previous years.

“The goods haven’t sold as well this year either, which is odd as we think they’re better than last year.

“Two of the local charities are selling well, as always: the Romney Marsh churches and the Memorial Hospital. Richard Adams’s new design is whooshing out the door and we have his designs from 2014 and 2013 as well.

“We have a lot more to sell and the closer it gets to Christmas the demand goes down.”

The Cards for Good Causes multi charity card shop is open at Rye Community Centre Tuesday -Saturday, 10am-4pm, until December 19.
