Charity gets lottery boost for its work

Outset Youth Action wants to gain their support for its work with young people.

The charity’s search follows its success in securing £290,000 from the Big Lottery reaching communities fund to pay for three years of activities.

The money will allow it to develop a Volunteering4myfuture project for young people who are not in education or work in partnership with business mentors.

Outset will design and deliver a series of 12-week programmes of volunteering activities and workshops.

This new project will enable 660 young people to develop essential work-based skills and experience in a supported environment to increase their job skills and access to apprenticeships.

Sally Sikora, Outset’s chief executive, said: “The lottery funding will enable Outset to develop essential work with some of our more vulnerable young people across West Sussex.”

Outset has developed and appraised volunteering opportunities for young people in West Sussex for more than 30 years.

It monitors and supports each volunteer to develop skills and experience within a safe local placement.

This work will continue alongside the new project.
