Charity summer sale

A VITAL charity for the blind stepped up its fight for survival with a successful summer sale.

The St Matthew's Centre for the Blind and Partially Sighted raised a whopping 680 during the two-hour event at their base in London Road.

A bumper crowd were able to buy craft items, cakes, bric a brac and garden plants with all

proceeds going towards general funds.

After losing funding earlier this year, organisers say this is an important step in helping the people who use the service.

Industrious members were hard at work making the craft products and will be rewarded with a trip to Bewl Water for a well-earned cream tea this month.

Organisers say the hand-made stools, tables and other items are always on sale during their Thursday sessions at St Matthew's Church hall between 9.30am-4pm.

Anyone interested in buying craft products can come along, or telephone Bobby Furness on 01424 446773.
