Charters Ancaster band wins Festival trophy

Charters Ancaster Brass Ensemble regained the Battle Town Band Trophy at the Hastings Music Festival in spite of strong competition.

The Ensemble consisting of Emily Bracken and James Burton on trumpet, Lars Thorkildsen on trombone accompanied by Oliver Platts on the drums played the "Big Mac March" and "Roadrunner" as part of their programme.

Peter Mitchell their brass teacher said: "It was wonderful to see them retain the Cup, they were up against some senior teams from other schools. They have worked very hard over the past few years, and not only has this resulted in their success, it has also encouraged the younger children to learn who I am sure will strive to match this success."

A number of other pupils enjoyed success including George Bentley who gained first place with honours in Grade 2 Brass.
