Chichester Free School, which opened in September, 2013, has been based since then at a temporary home in the Vinnetrow Business Park, Runcton.

It is now consulting on its long-anticipated move to the former Carmelite Convent, in Hunston Road.

The school said it was now looking for a ‘larger, more permanent home’.

It is holding a public consultation event from 9.30am-6.30pm on September 30 and October 1 at the Eastern Arm of the Cloisters, at Chichester Cathedral.

All members of the public have been invited to come along and view the plans and comment on the proposals. The school hopes to move to the site ready for the new academic year in September, 2017.

The rumours that the free school was eyeing up the convent site were confirmed in April, 2014, by the school. At that stage it was hoping to move ready for the start of term a few weeks ago, however this was later pushed back to next September.
