Chichester High School for Girls ‘delirious’ with outstanding Ofsted rating

That’s after the school achieved top ratings across the board in a fantastic Ofsted report.

Inspectors visited the high school at the start of July and found it to be outstanding for leadership and management; behaviour and safety of pupils, quality of teaching; achievement of pupils; and sixth form provision.

The phenomenal achievement is being celebrated by pupils, staff and parents alike.

For executive headteacher Yasmin Maskatiya it fulfils an ambition she set out to achieve when she took over in 2013.

She said: “We are delighted, excited and delirious about the outstanding judgement.

“Over the past two years CHSG has worked incredibly hard to improve rapidly on all fronts; to have this validated and acknowledged means a great deal.

“As I said in my first interview with Chichester Observer, having taken up the headship back in the summer of 2013, the aim was always to achieve outstanding at the girls’ school.

“We gave ourselves three years to do this – the staff and students and governors worked hard to achieve it in just two years.”

The report, published on Thursday, found: “The headteacher’s drive, determination and passion for the school permeate every aspect of its work.

“Her outstanding leadership, together with that of others leaders and governors, has significantly contributed to the high quality of teaching and students’ outstanding achievement.

Calling the teaching across the board ‘outstanding’, it found: “Teachers make very good use of information about students to plan interesting, challenging and enjoyable lessons.

The report also commented on the ‘very good progress’ made by all groups of students - including those who were disadvantaged and disabled.

Student behaviour is ‘exemplary’, and pupils are ‘proud of their school and know that they are respected by staff’, inspectors found.

Mrs Maskatiya added: “It has been a true team effort – exemplified by the Three Musketeers motto: ‘All for one and one for all!’”
