Pupils are now enjoying regular trips to the coast, learning about marine ecosystems, tides, coastal weather and how life operates on and around the beach.

The school in West Street has broadened its curriculum to embrace outdoor learning and help the children make the most of exciting opportunities outside the classroom.

Iona Carmody, head of Pre-Prep at The Prebendal, said: “It’s a fantastic way for children to grow in confidence and self-esteem away from the classroom.

“It’s also a unique opportunity for pupils to solve problems creatively in an inspiring location. We are so lucky to have these amazing natural resources right on our doorstep.”

She said it was also a wonderful opportunity for the children to develop their personal skills, in particular those of collaboration, perseverance and resilience.
