AN ancient Doomsday-era village is about to open a very modern community shop with online postal services, Wi Fi and a cafe serving freshly ground coffee.
Chiddingly Village shop in Farley Yard, Muddles Green, Chiddingly, will open its doors officially on August 18.
The shop has been created by a group of passionate villagers who want to put the heart back into the rural community.
It will act as a village hub, cafe and postal point with a daily royal mail collection, providing information on community events, green issues and local producers.
Gail Giles, the shop chair, said: “The shop grew out of a strong belief in supporting Chiddingly farmers and producers and in the village being able to buy Sussex produce on their doorstep.”
Chiddingly Village Shop will host local producers still growing, farming, cooking, baking and brewing wonderful produce. The not for profit co-operative will be run by a paid manager and volunteers.
