Children enjoy long weekend trip to Paris

SIXTEEN 'very excited' Year five and six pupils from Pebsham school hopped across the Channel for a long weekend in Paris.

Accompanied by teachers, they set off from school at 6.45am for Dover to catch the ferry to France for their residential trip.

Staff member Sarah John said: “The journey was very smooth, though foggy, and they discovered on deck that the ship’s foghorn is very loud.

“They stayed at the Chateau de Grande Romaine just outside of Paris. The Chateau is a lovely typically French chateau with extensive grounds for the many activities they offer.

“The children made crepes, visited a local market in Melun where they bought more crepes using their French, and tasted chocolate at a chocolate factory. On Sunday, after a slightly damp start, they travelled into Paris where they enjoyed a cruise on the Seine and visited the Sacre Coeur, but the highlight of the weekend was the visit to the Eiffel Tower - yes to the top!

“On the last evening at the chateau a few brave children tried ‘escargot’.

“It was a fantastic weekend and experience the children will never forget.”
