Thirteen children from Lewes have had their artwork used in a 2016 charity calendar.
In the summer children aged four to 18 were invited to take part in a competition arranged by Friends of Lewes to name and draw, paint or make a collage of a building or place in the town special to them.
Entries were judged in age categories – four to seven year olds, eight to 11 year olds and 12 to 18 year olds. The winners of each group received a £25 book voucher at a presentation evening at Lewes town hall lecture room on October 1.
A selection of entries were chosen to illustrate the calendar, with those chosen also receiving prizes.
Anwesha Maiti’s illustration of Lewes Castle won the 12 to 18 years category in the Friends of Lewes summer competition. The artwork is also the cover image of the calendar.
Ellie Brown chose Harveys Brewery as her special place or building. Her artwork is the image for January.
The calendar is £6.99 and can be bought from LDC’s Tourist Information Centre on the High Street or visit friends-of-lewes.org.uk.
