Youngsters of all ages are being called to take part in the competition arranged by charitable florists at Petals ‘N’ Buds, in High Street, Littlehampton.

The event will be in aid of St Barnabas House hospice and will be in loving memory of the store’s late owner and prolific fundraiser, Sue Kilhams, who died aged 60 last year, following a valiant battle against cancer.

Daughter Leigh Kilhams said: “I believe mum would have loved the competition, she was a very creative woman and I think she would have loved to see her shop displaying artwork from local children.

“St Barnabas House’s hospice at home service allowed us to fulfil mum’s wish of living out her final days at home surrounded by her family.

“They helped so much with her care, between my two sisters, her partner and myself we cared for her day and night but it was very difficult, the nurses came in, showed us the best ways to do things and took pressure off us especially with her medication.

“It’s a vital service which helps patients stay at home and takes pressure off the family’s. We are also so pleased that our neighbour Denny’s den has donated a sum of money towards the cause.”

There are three categories on offer – children six and under, seven to 11 and youngsters 12 and over.

The top picture in each category will win a £10 voucher, with the two youngest sections winning a voucher for Toys R Us, while the victor of the oldest group will have a choice between a £10 voucher for either New Look, Toys R Us or iTunes.

All entries must be on A4 paper and delivered to the flower shop by the closing date of April 28.

The child’s name, age and a contact number should be included on the back of the picture.

All the drawings will be displayed in the florist’s.

Petal ‘N’ Buds will be donating cash to the hospice for each of the entries received over the Easter break.
