Abbie is a former student at both the charity’s School for Parents service, having attended from the age of nine months until she was 3 ½ years old, and the Ingfield Manor School, which is on the same site as the charity in Five Oaks, Billingshurst.

Abbie, age 20, is now ranked number 1 in the UK and number 3 in the world for throwing in the F32 classification after starting her athletics whilst at Treloard School when she was about 12 years old.

She is now focused on Rio, breaking the world record and becoming the Olympic Champion with the support of Antony Hughes (GB Throws Coach) as her new lead coach and her dad as assistant and day-to-day coach.

Pilar Cloud, Executive Manager at DVLCC, said: “We have really enjoyed meeting Abbie. Her sporting and personal achievements, even at such a young age, are inspiring. It is Abbie’s enthusiasm and wit that we have all really warmed to. The whole team and I look forward to working with Abbie to help promote not only the benefits of the approach we follow, but also to support our families as their children grow and transition into their next stage,”

Abbie, her father and her grandfather have kindly agreed to speak about their experiences so far at an upcoming Parents Evening on Friday May 6.

This event is open to all current families and former families who have used our service.
