A small group of singers provided an unexpected treat for shoppers at Hailsham Street Market on Saturday June 20.

The 18 singers, just one-third of Hailsham Choral Society, were performing songs to promote the Choral Society and its concert.

Choir members manned a stall in the market and passers-by were encouraged to join the group.

Hailsham Choral ran the information stall and presented their mini-concert as a result of the scheme being run by Hailsham Town Council to offer a free market stall each week to a local charity.

Hailsham Choral’s summer concert, Songs Of The People, featuring choral arrangements of British folk songs by John Rutter and African-American spirituals by Michael Tippett, will take place on Sunday June 28 at 3pm in Civic Community Hall in Hailsham. Tickets £10 adults, £5 under-16s, tea and cake included.
