Musical Drama Group, Christian Voices, forthcoming play, ‘The Runaway Slave’ will be performed at various local venues next month.

The play is based on the New Testament Bible Story of Paul, Onesimus and Philemon and is written by Alan Young, of St Martha’s Church, with songs composed by Dave Chamberlin, of All Saints Church.

Directed by Graham Payne, of Brighton Vineyard Church, the play centres around Onesimus, a slave, who steals and runs away from his Master, Philemon. He goes to Rome, where he meets Paul, who converts and baptises him. As Paul knows he is Philemon’s slave, he sends Onesimus back and asks Philemon to accept him, not as a slave, but as a brother in Christ.
