Christmas at Southwick's oldest house

CHRISTMAS comes to Southwick's historic Manor Cottage, before it closes for the season.

The cottage, run by Southwick Society volunteers, will be hosting a special event on Saturday, 10am to 12.30pm.

The Tudor hall and inglenook fireplace will be decorated in festive greenery and visitors will be able to buy unique Southwick Christmas cards, as well as Christmas gifts.

Coffee and mince pies will be on sale and visitors will also be able to look round the historic house and see the displays.

Admission is free, but donations towards running costs are welcomed.

The Manor Cottage Heritage Centre is in Southwick Street, opposite Southwick Square.

It is the oldest house in Southwick, dating from about 1450, and has been restored by the Southwick Society.

The cottage will then be ‘put to bed’ for the winter. Next year’s new exhibitions will be prepared ready for the new season, which starts in spring 2014.
