Christmas comes early for needy Littlehampton residents

Kind-hearted Rotarians thrilled volunteers and staff at the food bank, based at the Littlehampton Baptist Church, earlier this month by presenting the cause with 48 vital food hampers.

The food bank, which opened in November, last year, is an essential lifeline to many of the town’s most needy residents.

It offers life-changing help to families in food poverty as well as the homeless and the needy.

Sylvana Cotterill volunteers at the food bank. She said: “We’re so grateful to the Littlehampton Rotary Club for its donation.

“They made up some lovely, quite big boxes that we have given away to people as they come in.

“And the smiles on their faces when they have been given the hampers have been really lovely.

“It’s just helped to bring that Christmas cheer to people who desperately need it.”

Bill Paine, of the Rotary Club, said the organisation had always been a supporter of the food bank, formerly known as the Littlehampton Larder.

He wished to thank everyone who helped in creating the parcels and praised the staff at Barnham Trading Post for all its support.

The food bank is open from 1pm-3pm on a Tuesday and Friday.
