Workmen have been busy today (Monday, November 28) putting up the Worthing Rotary Club tree in Montague Place, which has been sponsored by the Town Centre Initiative this year (continued below).

The club’s Christmas tree appeal will be marked with an opening ceremony at 10.30am on Thursday (December 1).

Volunteers will sing carols and the mayor and town crier are due to attend.

Rotary club members will start collecting donations in aid of local charities, which they will continue to do everyday for the rest of the Christmas period.

Sue Baldack, chairman of the Christmas Appeal at the Worthing Rotary Group, said: “Turn up for the ceremony and come and support us.

“Help us raise lots of money, all for good causes.”

She thanked the Town Centre Initiative for ‘very generously’ sponsoring the lights, tree and erection of the tree.
