Christmas Magic to light up town

The streets of Seaford will be lit up with Christmas Magic once again as the family-friendly event returns to the town next month.

Organised by Seaford Town Council and the Seaford Chamber of Commerce, the event will be animating the streets of Seaford from 10am until 7pm on December 5, with the all day market and family entertainment.

There are lots of activities with small fair rides, perfect for young children, street entertainers and music during the day. Children will be invited to come along to St Leonards Church Hall to make and decorate their own paper lanterns which they can then use to take part in the charming lantern parade. The lantern making will be available from 10am to 3pm, with the parade setting off at 4.45pm on a short walk around the town centre lighting the way to the top of Broad Street for the switch on of the Christmas lights at around 5.30pm.

The festivities will continue with an evening funfair located in Church Street, starting at 5.30pm through to around 9.30pm.

The town centre will be bustling all day and into the evening with stalls from local traders, organisations and charities, ideal for picking up Christmas gifts, sampling the foods on offer or learning more about the organisations. Many traders will have their windows dressed to celebrate the festivities.

As ever, an event of this scale needs increasing support as it is organised primarily by volunteers with no set budget; the funding is gathered through generous sponsorship from local businesses, income from some of the event attractions, as well as relying on the generosity of the public.

As this year’s event is that little bit bigger, more sponsorship is always welcomed and in return there is a range of advertising and promotional options for your business. This year, sponsors will feature in a 24-page colour programme which features information about all of the activities and entertainment over the course of the day and other related events.

Alternatively, if you can provide your time or support in other ways, the council is always looking for volunteers to help with the organisation of the event, stewarding on the day or even transporting equipment. If you or anyone you know can help, contact Seaford Town Council to find more about how to get involved. Visit for details.
