The nights might not yet be drawing in, but a group of musicians are already looking to winter and have recorded a Christmas single to raise funds for charity.

Fundraising organisation Acoustic Valium Project enlisted the help of around 20 talented singers from the Sussex and Kent area for the single It’s Christmas Time.

The single, which will be released on November 17 as a limited edition CD and download track, is to raise funds for the Crowborough based charity Taylor-Made Dreams. Taylor-Made Dreams is a charity which enables children with life limiting illness achieve their dreams and is a provider of holistic therapeutic support.

The initial recording for the track began in producer Simon Scardanelli’s Vi-Vid studio in Brighton and over the weekend of September 6 and 7 recording sessions began in Barracks Studio in Hildenborough. Simon is from 80s pop band Big Bam Boo. James Morris, from Ringmer, who penned the song, said: “The song itself is an original composition that captures the nostalgia and excitement of that feeling of Christmas when you were a child and embodies all the festive elements of the classic Christmas songs of the 70s and 80s. Over 30 people gathered at various times throughout the weekend at the studio to record the track. We had a very good weekend of recording the single and this week we start mixing so the film footage can be sent to Moscow where it will be edited to produce the video.” Those taking part in the charity single include Dan Clews who is an upcoming songwriter and performer signed to the Beatles producer Sir George Martin’s publishing company.Empire Dance Children’s Choir 7 all from Newick, Barcombe and Ringmer areas also took part, as well as Mark Cooper, Peter Evans, James Boyd, John S Grant, Dan Smith, Paul Dunton, Kim Thornewell, Millie Manders, Sue Lovell, Kerry Evenden, Niamh Cosham Elam, David Warren, Issey Cee, Natalie Moore, Milly McCarron, Robert Harmer, Jason Lloyd-Bevis, P E Tripp, Elle Roberts, Emma Brazier and Taj Mian.
