Christmas treeproblem solvedby the hospice

For the second year running the retail team from St Michael’s Hospice will be offering a Christmas tree collection service, picking up trees from all over Rother on the weekend of 10th and 11th of January 2015.

For a small donation (minimum donation of £5 per tree is suggested) they can collect your tree from your doorstep and take it away for recycling, what could be simpler? Don’t forget to take off your tinsel and decorations first!

The trees will be donated to Port Lympne Reserve, in Kent.

“The recycled trees will have a very exciting new home at Port Lympne Reserve, where they will be used for building shelters for a variety of animals and as enrichment for the big cats, who love using the pre loved trees as scratching posts’, said Carole Thomas, Communications and PR Manager at the Port Lympne Reserve.

Chris Jones, Head of Retail at St Michael’s Hospice, said: “The Retail team are looking forward to the New Year challenge of picking up tired Christmas trees from across Hastings and Rother.

“We are delighted to be working again this year with Port Lympne. What a fun and rewarding way to give your old tree a new lease of life”

Since St Michael’s Hospice opened in 1987 it has cared for more than 12,500 people with life limiting illnesses in the Hastings and Rother area through a number of different services.

It is an independent charity and all services are given free so we they are heavily dependent on the generosity of local individuals.
