City gets set for new half marathon

The first Chichester half marathon in 25 years will take place this weekend.

A number of roads will be affected by the race, which is on Sunday, October 14.

The half marathon has been organised in partnership with the Children on the Edge charity.

The multi-terrain race starts at Chichester College and passes through the city before heading north to the pinnacle of the Downs.

Runners will then return to the city through Centurion Way.

A number of roads in the city will be closed from 8.30am to 9.30am, including: Westgate, Avenue de Chartres, Orchard Street, West Street, Chapel Street, South Street, East Street, East Walls, Priory Road and Priory Lane.

In addition Sherborne Road will be closed from 8.30am to 2pm.

In a letter sent out to residents in the area, the district council have said a professional traffic management company will be controlling traffic on the day.

They are also liasing with West Sussex County Council to ensure all traffic diversions are clearly signposted.
