TWENTY-three years after they left school the Seaford Head Comprehensive class of '79 has reunited. More than 120 old school pals met for a stroll down memory lane.

A group, including their former class teacher Mr Hart, took a tour of their old school with current headteacher Robin Precey before renewing friendships at a party at Seaford Constitutional Club.

Former headmaster Keith Carlisle drew the raffle which raised 743. Many local businesses donated prizes and the venue and caterers, The Gourmet, of Lewes, donated part of their fees.

The events were organised by Andrew Hall and Candy Andrews.

Andrew said: 'The reunion has taken over eight months to organise and has been a great success. Our initial raffle target was 300, which was more than doubled on the day.'

Former students were tracked down in South Africa and the USA and three got in touch when they spotted an earlier article about the reunion in the Sussex Express.

The raffle money will be used to create a lasting reminder of the class of 79. Candy said: 'The funds will buy a memorial bench for Seaford Head school, with the remainder going to a children's charity in remembrance of the pupils and teachers no longer with us.'
