The announcement of a Climate Change Bill in the Queen's Speech has been welcomed by Norman Baker MP.

Mr Baker said, "I have championed the need to tackle climate change for almost 20years, long before it was fashionable, and have introduced a number of debates in the House of Commons on the issue."

"I am looking forward to the passage of this Bill through parliament as a necessary first step, though I am disappointed that the government has set its face against annual targets.

"I fear that they still want to get credit for the rhetoric without delivering the goods.

"Ultimately we need action on climate change, not more Government spin."
