Taking the form of ‘thought for the day’ style audio clips, the podcast calendar is designed to inform listeners about the United Nations climate change talks in Paris.

It will be launched on Tuesday by A Rocha UK, a Christian conservation charity based in London, and will feature clergy and conservationists carrying specially-written podcasts to promote prayer for the planet.

Churches and theology director Dr Ruth Valerio, who lives in Chichester, said: “We have an amazing line-up of contributors. I am excited about how this calendar can play a unique role in encouraging Christians to pray, reflect and act during the UN talks and the advent season.

“After the ‘coffee cup controversy’ and supermarket commercials starring a man in the moon and a clumsy cat, A Rocha UK offers Hope for the World.”

Dr Valerio’s team produced the podcast calendar of wise men and women bearing gifts.

Each day will bring a different message and contributors include Alpha pioneer Nicky Gumbel, TV presenter Peter Owen-Jones, Christian Aid chief Loretta Minghella, botanist explorer Sir Ghillean Prance and CAFOD director Chris Bain.

The 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference takes place at Le Bourget from Monday until December 12.

Dr Valerio will be speaking at a climate march in London on Sunday, part of a worldwide programme of protest walks in major cities on the eve of the conference.

The podcasts can be heard at http://advent.arocha.org.uk.
