As part of The Big Get Together for St Barnabas House today, Lesley has invited friends around to her house for a ‘Jolly Good Night In’.

She said: “Reg had a heart of gold and a kind word for everyone. But, whenever we went shopping for clothes and I would try something on, when asked what I looked like, Reg invariably answered, ‘Have they got a bigger size?’ My daughter Jenna and I thought it very fitting to have a clothing themed evening. Guests will bring their unwanted clothes and toiletries and others can make a donation for them.”

Reg was first diagnosed with cancer in 2010 but was treated and given the all clear before it re-emerged in November 2012.

He died at St Barnabas in February, 2013, having spent six days in the in-patient unit. He was also a frequent visitor to the day hospice, which he loved and used to call ‘Grandpa’s playschool’.

Lesley added: “We had amazing support from St Barnabas. They allowed me to stay the whole time, which I know gave Reg comfort. I set up a JustGiving page instead of flowers at the funeral and raised over £2,000, which is testament to the kind of guy he was.” See www.thebiggettogether.org.uk/stb
