The Eastbourne Rock ‘n’ Roll Club is celebrating 20 years of live music and dancing with a special event next week.
The club will be celebrating the anniversary with an evening of entertainment at The Horseshoe Inn on Friday, September 26.
There will be live bands, including the return of The Firetones, and a screen showing photographs and live footage from throughout the years.
The club was originally set up in 1993 and held its first meeting in April of that year at a village pub in Hooe. It moved to several different venues before settling at The Horseshoe Inn in Herstmonceux.
The club hosts record hops on Monday evenings and live music on the last Friday of every month. Several of the original members from the club still attend regularly, including one couple who be celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary at June’s live music night.
The club attracts a wide range of people, with the youngest member being 17, and jive styles including 50s/60s, modern jive, swing, stroll and bopping.
Tickets for the event on September 26 are £9 and there will also be a raffle supporting Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice, with a prize on offer for the person who can remember the name of the very first live band who performed for the club at The Horseshoe Inn.
