Coffee morning raises funds for Christmas party

A COFFEE morning to raise funds for the annual Christmas party for local elderly residents was held at All Saints Church at the weekend.

Organised by All Saints Wives Fellowship, the popular coffee morning had much on offer.

Stalls sold books, toys, hand-made baby clothes, jams, preserves and home-made cakes were quick to sell out.

Refreshments of teas and coffees were also available and the event raised 370.

Chairman of All Saints Wives Fellowship Carole Holman said the ladies work hard to put on a good Christmas party bash, which is always well received within the community.

She said: "The church has been putting on the Christmas party for the elderly since the 1940's. Residents are collected from their homes by the Bexhill Community bus. We provide a full afternoon tea with entertainment and everyone receives a Christmas present."

Of the money raised from the coffee morning Carole said: "Our target was 300, so we are really pleased with today's result."
