Cold caller targeting Bexhill residents

Police are asking Bexhill homeowners to beware after a woman was targeted by a cold-calling conman.

The caller, who knocked on the door of the woman's Linden Road home at around 10.45am on Wednesday February 18, claimed he was a gardener.

He charged the woman 120 for three hours' gardening work, which he never carried out. He also gave a false telephone number.

The conman was white, in his late 30s, approximately 5ft 6ins tall and of a stocky build with short dark hair. He was travelling on a blue push bike with a pair of shears tied to the crossbar.

PC Rob Neal said; "Police would like to make other residents of Bexhill aware of this man and would appeal for anyone with information to come forward."
