The 25 members of staff at MORE TH>N – part of insurance giant RSA - who volunteered not only weeded and planted, but also wood stained all the garden furniture and fences until torrential rain stopped play. All of the staff have pledged to return and finish the job, once summer actually arrives, or at the very least it stops raining for a few days!

Lilian Bold, volunteer, Horsham Hospital: “We have enjoyed the support of volunteers from MORE TH>N for the last 15 years or so. This helps us immensely in keeping most of our fourteen internal award winning courtyard gardens tidy for the enjoyment of patients, visitors and staff – on behalf of all of them I would like to extend huge thanks for their help again this year.”

Volunteers’ Week is a chance to be part of the UK’s biggest celebration of volunteering, recognising the contribution of 23 million people who volunteer in their communities across the UK. Volunteers’ Week is a long-standing, popular event in the voluntary sector, established in 1984.

Natalie Tickle, Charity and Community Manager, RSA explains: “Last year RSA and MORE TH>N staff donated £1.6m to our local communities.

“Horsham is one of our key operations and we welcome the chance to give back to the community. Every member of staff is given two paid work days which they can spend with a local charity or good cause donating their time or professional services.”
