College helps tofind pier staff

Sussex Coast College has joined forces with Centerplate, the hospitality and catering partner for the newly ere-opened Hastings Pier, to search for new employees in a range of essential roles, including restaurant, catering, and kitchen staff.

A total of 46 new team members were recruited with almost half of the positions being taking up by students from the college.

Matthew Brook, Training Manager at Centerplate said: “We’ve managed to hire around 46 new team members which - placed us in a great position for the successful launch on the April 27.

Dan Shelley, Vice Principal; Enterprise, Employment and Skills at Sussex Coast College Hastings said: “It’s fantastic news for the 18 students who have been successfully chosen to work at the pier once it re-opens. This forms the basis for an exciting partnership with Centerplate as we will look to develop future ideas to offer students greater opportunities.”
