MONTHS of planning come to fruition tomorrow (Saturday) when more than 100 former pupils gather at Uckfield Community College for a reunion.

The ex-pupils involved are all due to celebrate their 40th birthdays during the coming year. They joined the college in 1974 and left between 1979 and 1981.

Mrs Beverley Butler, of Furnace Way, Uckfield, is organising the event. She reckons there were about 180 pupils in her year group altogether and she is delighted that more than 100 have said they want to come to the reunion.

But there are still some old friends who have not yet been traced and anybody else from the era will be welcome at the party, she said.

People are coming from as far afield as America as well as from all over Britain. They will have a chance to tour the college and see how it has changed since their schooldays. and pore over old photos and a scrapbook of what was happening in the world in those days.

'I have really enjoyed getting in touch with people again over the last few months and am now looking forward to the event itself,' said Mrs Butler.
