COLLEGE OPEN DAY ATTRACTS THOUSANDS

TWELVE thousand visitors flocked to Plumpton College for its Open Day on Saturday.

The annual event, combined with East Sussex Young Farmers Club events, allows visitors an ideal opportunity to enjoy a great family day out.

Students were busy demonstrating their skills and staff were available to discuss the wide range of courses which cover a wide range of land-based subjects from entry level to degree.

A variety of exhibitors included local organic food and drinks, crafts, agricultural machinery, children's amusements, the Scouts and vintage engines.

Equine events attracted a keen band of spectators in the indoor riding school, who were treated to lunge lessons, horses for courses display, musical drill ride, jumping demonstration, and a teaching display.

The college's vineyard and winery offered the opportunity to sample wine tasting and purchase Plumpton College Estate wine.

There were chainsaw displays and students and staff demonstrated their tree climbing and log splitting techniques to an appreciative audience.
