On July 13 everyone is welcome to come along to the College and join in with a view to starting a community orchestra. Musicians will be gathering at 11am and aim to hold a performance at 4pm showcasing the music mastered during the day.

Local group The Music Well is partnering Rye College in the project. Niki Stuart said: “We are delighted to be a part of the Our Big Gig and we know that this will be an excellent spring board for our community orchestra.

“The Music Well aims to give everyone an opportunity to improve their well-being through music and what better way than joining an orchestra made up of young and old where skills and life experiences can be shared across the ages.”

The event is co-ordinated by not for profit arts organisation Superact who use the arts to improve the health and wellbeing of people and communities.
