Many pieces were created by the year 11 GCSE dance students as part of their exam course and these were integrated with work done by the College’s five dance companies - Junior Dance Company; Junior Boys’ Dance Company; Senior Dance Company; Senior Boys’ Dance Company; and Rye College’s advanced Dance Company ‘Velocity’.

Rye College was also proud to play host to visiting dancers from LEO Dance Company. LEO Dance Company was founded by and is directed by Jo Frater. The dancers are a mix of learning disabled and able bodied dancers.

Harriet Catt, from the College, said: “Each year the performance is an opportunity for young people to share their developing skills in dance with their friends and family.

“It is also a time for year 11 students who are moving on to further education to give their final performance at Rye College. This year Rye College has aspirational dancers hoping to follow a professional career. This was reflected in the standard of work. One dancer in particular, Jack Cooper, is already supplementing his dance education by attending a training scheme at Laban Conservatoire for Dance.

“Liz Daines, Head of Dance at Rye College is extremely proud of all the work the young dancers put in to pull together an excellent showcase performance.”
