UCTC Principal Craig Pamphilon said: 'While we are a specialist technology college, awards such as the Artsmark Gold confirm that we provide first class all-round educational opportunities for students in Uckfield.'

The college has undertaken a number of activities to qualify for Artsmark status, including music exchanges in Germany and the USA, summer schools, exhibitions and forging cultural links with Ghana.

Mr Pamphilon added: 'I am really proud of the way that students have seized these opportunities in the arts and have made them their own.

'So much has been learned through the process of being involved and taking part.'

Last year the college was labelled 'outstanding' after an Ofsted inspection.
