College takes 21st century Judas to Brighton Fringe
A powerful new play, The Twelfth Disciple, imagines a 21st-century Judas interrogated and forced to give up his leader. Set in the heart of middle-eastern conflict and fusing real cinematic footage with an on stage interrogation, The Twelfth Disciple is immediate, contemporary and poignant - a political thriller with biblical bite.
The play began life as a student project, devised and written by Eastbourne College pupils but has since been developed into a fully professional production and previews at Eastbourne College Theatre on Friday, May 1 (7.45pm) before being performed at the Brighton Fringe Festival. The play is produced by Eastbourne College’s Director of Drama Tim Marriott and directed by Asif Khan. Dynamic and hard hitting footage audio visual content of middle eastern conflict are created by Eastbourne’s Matt Derbyshire, of Smokescreen Visuals, and also features music created for the production by Daisy and The Dark. This production supports international conflict resolution charity, Children of Peace (www.childrenofpeace.org.uk).
