Collision blocks road outside Herstmonceux

A collision blocked a road on the outskirts of Hertsmonceux this morning (Tuesday).

Emergency services were called to the incident in Cowbeech Road, Cowbeech, near the Merry Harriers pub at about 8.20am.

Police said those involved suffered minor injuries in the collision between a white Citroen Berlingo van and a red Ford Fiesta Zetec car.

The car driver, a 50-year-old woman from Hellingly, travelling north-east, suffered bruising and whiplash injuries. Her front seat passenger, a 16-year-old girl, was unhurt.

The van driver, a 58-year-old man from Bexhill-on-Sea, travelling south-west, suffered cuts and bruising, said police.

The road was closed for more than three hours while the incident was dealt with, including removal of oil and debris resulting from the collision.
