Easter services at Holy Cross Church, Uckfield, were packed with adults and children who enjoyed a light hearted interpretation of Easter while focusing lightly on the more serious message inherent in the colourful celebrations.
Members of the church’s congregation had all been invited to bring a robust and hard-stemmed flower to the 9.30am Parish Eucharist service.
During the service the Cross of Dereliction was decorated with their glorious flowers and transformed into the Cross of the Resurrection.
After the service there was a gathering of the town’s ladies and children wearing their magnificent Easter Bonnets.
Rev Canon Martin Onions, vicar of Holy Cross, wore his best bunny ears to hand out Easter Eggs to all the children present. It was a chocolate fiesta when they finally returned home.
