Commemorating the First World War in Peacehaven and Telscombe

A special service will be held in Telscombe to commemorate World War I on Sunday August 3 at 6pm in Telscombe Village Church, followed by refreshments in Telscombe Village Hall.

A further service will take place in at the War Memorial, Meridian Park, in Peacehaven on Monday August 4 at 6.30pm followed by refreshments at Community House.

The events have been organised by the Royal British Legion, Peacehaven and Telscombe Branch.

Peacehaven and Telscombe Town Councils are working with the branch.

Eight servicemen fell during World War I from this area, whose names are dedicated on the new war memorial.

The Royal British Legion would like to hear from any relatives or family members to discuss the above arrangements and to receive any photographs or memorabilia that may be of interest or appropriate all of which will be returned.

Names of fallen are Frank Brookes, Thomas William Read, William George Timlick, Charles Gibbons, John Griffiths, Fred Huchinson, Victor Linton and Edgar Newcombe.
