Commemorative oak is planted in Petworth to celebrate one hundred years of Cub Scouting

2016 was the centenary year and throughout the 12 months, Cub Scouts across the Petworth and Pulborough District took part in various events culminating in a renewal of their promises at Midhurst Rother College at the end of the year when all the packs in the district got together for a celebration which included camp fire singing around a camp fire created by the Cerberus Explorer Scout Unit and the cutting of a centenary birthday cake.

And as a memento of the Cub Scouting milestone West Sussex County Scouts presented each Scout District with a memorial tree.

In honour of the fact that the lst Petworth Scout Group is one of the oldest in the district, district commissioner Kath Bridger visited the Cub Scouts who were camping at the Petworth Scout headquarters to help plant the tree.

She was assisted in her centenary task by one of the newest Cubs in the Pack, Lloyd Dallyn and watched by members of the lst Petworth Cub Scout Pack.
