COMMUNITY AWARDS: Winners presented with their awards at Hawth ceremony

The winners were presented with their awards at a gala at The Hawth theatre this evening (Saturday March 19), picked from more than 300 nominations.
The awards were organised by the Crawley Observer in partnership with The Hawth and Crawley Borough Council.
The winners in the order in which they were presented are:
David Moon - Environment Award
Ariel Othellos Buddies - Volunteer Group
Ray Collins - Volunteer
Springboard - Charity
Chris Lee - Sports Person
Downsman Bowls Club - Sports Team
Celtic and Irish Society - Culture
Fi Steps - Performing Arts
Maria Hains - Fundraiser
Home-Start CHAMS - Community Group
Nigel Turner - Education
Barbara Alderson - Achievement
Phil Hayes - Local hero
Julia Klemkerk - Inspiration
Autism Support Crawley - Support Group
Robert Groves - Courage

Hide AdThroughout the evening the audience enjoyed performances by musicians Chapter Two, St Wilfrid’s Catholic School, Sussex Adult Tappers and The Diva Dance Group.
The awards were the first of their kind to be hosted in Crawley and were sponsored by Thales, Freedom Leisure, which runs the K2 Crawley, Crawley Town Football Club and the headline sponsors were Gatwick Airport.
