Community group calls for your vote today

A Hastings support group is calling on local people to vote for the charity after being nominated for the Lloyds Bank Community Fund.

The Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Support Group is hoping that it has a chance of being awarded a grant of up to £3,000 from Lloyds Bank.

Providing families whose children have been diagnosed with ADHD or ASD, the group has been running since 1999.

Isabel Foreman, the group’s facilitator, said: “Our aim is to provide families who are struggling to work with children who display challenging behaviours as a result of their diagnosis and who are not able to partake in activities and social interaction with their families and peers which would normally be taken for granted.

“We meet weekly and have recently been offered the new facility at the new Tesco Community Room, Churchwood Drive, on Wednesdays, 9.30am to noon, from September 24. We have always raised out own funds to provide play-schemes and family short breaks.

“Now for the first time we have been offered the support of the Lloyds Bank Community Fund. Our level of funding is dependent on our local community supporting us through a voting scheme.“

The fund was set up to help local people to have a positive impact at the heart of their community by giving grants to up to 1,400 local good causes in 350 communities.
