Projects must either improve the community’s facilities, the appearance of the district or the wellbeing of residents.
Last year Friends of St Mary du Haura received £11,500 for the restoration of the chime mechanism of the town clock, while £8,500 was given to Southwick Rangers FC to replace the windows and doors in the clubhouse.
Shoreham BMX track was awarded £8,000 for improvements to community facilities.
In Lancing, North Lancing School PTA received £500, while Lancing Methodist Church bagged almost £10,000.
If the initial bid is authorised, applicants will present their ideas to a live voting audience and a panel of judges.
The winners of that round will go before the full council before funding is released.
