He became involved in social and other activities in Uckfield and the surrounding area.

His involvement included membership of Uckfield Round Table, which he joined in 1974 and later the 41 Club.

He had busy presidential years and strong involvement in fundraising and charitable work.

He also served on Uckfield School Parent Teachers Association, was an enthusiastic member of Maresfield Lawn Tennis Club and in 1984 ran the London marathon on behalf of the Anthony Nolan Appeal.

He worked for a number of companies in the consumer goods business sector before going into the cycle industry and setting up his own business at home in outdoor activities and clothing.

Colleagues and friends say not only was he able to see trends but he was a pleasure to be with with his ready smile and sense of humour.

With an enormous circle of friends, Tim and his wife Fran were sometimes referred to as the golden couple and Tim would often take the stage or hold audience with his quick wit, jokes and amusing anecdotes.

Despite all the activity, his family, Fran, Alice and Tom always came first.

Friends are welcome to the funeral service at 2pm on Thursday, June 19 at St Margaret's Church, Buxted.
