Companies sign unique charter to put Bognor first

At least 20 companies have signed a unique charter to put Bognor Regis first.

Representatives of the firms led the way in seeking to ensure lasting benefits from the town's multi- million pound regeneration plans.

The charter, drawn up by Arun District Council, is a formal agreement between developers, education, skills and training providers '“ as well as businesses '“ to explore and support opportunities arising from the extensive proposals for Bognor.

The charter is a visible mark of commitment and quality which promotes and acknowledges any organisation which signs it as a recognised partner in the regeneration programme.

Its launch at the Butlins Shoreline Conference Centre on Tuesday was attended by more than 100 people.

Arun's leader, Gillian Brown, said she was proud to see such enthusiastic backing to such an inspiring initiative.

"This is an innovative way of ensuring we work to really ensure there are lasting benefits from this unprecedented regeneration," she stated.

Jeremy Pardey, Butlins' resort director, said: "We are passionate about our involvement in the local community and wholeheartedly support the regeneration of the Bognor area.
